Rally date time and location set!!!!!

Hello Seekers,

The rally location for the LA rally is set. We are going to be assembling at the Northwest corner of Riverside and N. Kenwood St in Burbank, CA. This is on the same block as the Disney/ABC networks office building. The rally will be from 2 pm through 5 pm on Saturday August 14th 2010. After that I will be going to the neighborhood Starbucks and we can meet up there for an after rally sit down.

The location is in front of a vacant restaurant space and the only business on the block is a FedEx store that will be closed on the rally date. There will be no interruption to a local business because of the rally. At the other end of the block is a gas station with a food mart where you can buy snacks and drinks.

The nearest plaza to use for parking will be in the Von’s plaza parking lot at: 301 North Pass Avenue

this is also the plaza where Starbucks is located.

A mobile hotspot like the Mifi or a phone with the wifi hotspot capabilities would be greatly appreciated. If you have that please let me know.

Getting to the LA rally just got easier

A volunteer has stepped forward that is willing to give some people a ride to the rally from San Diego. Please note that $10 to cover gas is needed for the ride, which is a fantastic deal for transportation from San Diego to LA. Please come to the Seeker Rally forum, sign up and post in the “Are you coming” thread of the LA rally section. There is a thread in that section with details on getting the ride share set up.

Store set up to support the Legend of the Seeker rallies.

We now have a cafepress store set up to support the rallies. The artwork is done by none other than the graphic artist that did the logo for the Pass it on video.

There is gear there set up for the general Save our Seeker logo, as well as gear to support a specific rally.

Rally Fan Video Submissions being accepted

Hey Seeker Fans,

I am compiling a collection of fan submissions. I have been inspired by the save Farscape campaign. Here are the guidelines:

1. Register at the Seeker Rallies Forum

2. Must be in either standard definition or 720P High definition. Consult your cameras documentation concerning recording capabilities.

3. Must be no longer than 15 seconds.

4. The dialogue:
– a. Hi, I’m ___________, from (City,State) and I am a Seeker.
– b. Hi, I’m ___________, from (City/State) and I am a Confessor.
– c. Hi, I’m ___________, from (City/State) and I am a Wizard.
– d. Hi, I’m ___________, from (City/State) and I am a Mord’Sith.
– e. Anything you want to say about what made you fall in love with Legend of the Seeker.(This will be watched by everyone so keep it clean)
– f. A reason for the person watching the video to become a fan of Legend of the Seeker.(This will be watched by everyone so keep it clean)
– g. A plea to keep Legend of the Seeker on the air. Use your own words.

If you have a costume or prop that is clearly in keeping with Legend of the Seeker lore by all means dress up and show your stuff.

5. Do not upload these to Youtube or any other video sharing service, these will be premiered at the Los Angeles rally and possibly others depending on technical capabilities. Filename for the video should be: (Your name) Legend of the Seeker fan submission, this is so I can keep them in order and assign proper credit.

6. Submissions should be no larger than 24MB, consult your email provider for file size limits on email attachment size limits. If it cannot be emailed, email me and I will let you know how to get it to me on CD/DVD.

7. Email your submission to voyager10000@gmail.com. In the body of the email, include your full name, hometown(city/state), forum username, and twitter username(optional) for the credits.

8. You may submit more than one video using a different option from above, but they must be submitted individually unless submitting them on CD/DVD, then you may put them all on one disc, this is an excellent option for a family submission.

9. Submission deadline is July 31st 2010.

Strengthening the numbers for the rallies.

Seeker fans and enthusiasts,

The time for the rallies is approaching fast. Growing the attendance numbers for the rallies all over the country/world is paramount at this point. Getting the proper permits, securing a location, and setting a specific date/time is all linked to an estimate of how many people are going to be there.

Simple promotional plan:

1. Meetup.com – please find all the sci-fi and fantasy meetups you can in your local area and post the information on the rallies. Remember, the sites we have mentioned aren’t the only rallies that can happen, people can organize rallies in their own area.

2. Blogs and podcasts – please contact the podcasters you listen to and the blogs you read and spread the word concerning the rallies.

Please use the address below to point people, and don’t forget to sign up yourself so you can work with the people you’ll be meeting. Even if you only contact 1 or 2 groups and/or podcasts/blogs you can make a difference. That effort multiplied by hundreds of people become the building blocks for the rallies’ success and saving Legend of the Seeker. Go out there meet some people, spread the word, and have some fun.

Quick status update:

1. New forums Here are being used to coordinate multiple rallies, so sign up and spread the word.

2. I am currently scouting for a location and working on getting a permit for the rally, we don’t want the authorities spoiling our fun do we?

The Grand Plan

Hey Seeker fans,

I have an idea that I feel is essential to the campaign for saving Legend of the Seeker. We need to put a face on the effort and put it in front of the whole country. The mass media and news have paid no attention to our cause, I believe that needs to change.

I am proposing doing a few rallies at strategic locations simultaneously. I propose Los Angeles, NYC, and wherever WGN America’s HQ is. I am asking people interested in participating to DM me on Twitter @MichaelRahl. I have several plans that could make this a big hit, but need people to sign on to show it’s a serious effort. So PM me either here or on Twitter

This effort will require a considerable amount of work to be a success. This could allow us to show the networks what we’re made of. The numbers for 2.21 came in at around 2.2 million views, on a lesser network in a poor time slot. With a major network and a good time slot/pairing that number could easily grow to the 6-7 million range.

Please DM me on Twitter so I can start getting a tally. I also need your ideas on how to make this a success. I believe we can do this and make the desired impact. With major media attention we will open more doors to the network decision makers. Shows like Saturday Night Live, David Letterman, Jay Leno could then start using our community in their content. As we all know publicity is paramount in the entertainment industry. The print ad campaign was just a start, it’s time to take this to the next level.

I am looking for at least 250 Seeker fans in California and 250 Seeker fans in NYC. I know there’s at least 100 times that in Cali, the more of us that show up the bigger our impact and the bigger our chances of getting picked up by the news. I will also need others to volunteer to make this a success, let me know in your DM what you can do to help.
